How Secure is my Back Up Information?

Your information is as secure as it can be in today's environment.

Online Back Up Systems are the most secure way of storing and copying your important informaiton.   Unlike USB Sticks, you cannot lose your online back up system, neither does the Online Back Up System "forget" to Back-Up your informaiton, it is done automatically.   Online Back-Up Systems do not suffer from the high levels of unreliability that Tape and Disk back-ups do.

When you back up your informaiton to our servers it gets copied across a range of BackUp Earth servers that are held in purpose built secure facilities.   Should one, or even a number of our servers, encounter difficulties your information is still available to you through our other servers.

We use 256bit AES encryption. This is the one of the highest encryption levels used in the world.

Another bit....we cannot delete any of your information on our servers.   Neither can we access or read any of the information you have backed up on our servers.

Please refer to our services section for more informaiton and if you would like to contact us for more information please Click Here.

How Long Do You Store My Information For and is it Ever Deleted?

We securely store your information for as long as you are a customer.   If you are with us for 10 years then we will have 10 years of informaiton for you.   We do not delete any of your informaiton from our back up servers until 90 days after you cease to be a customer.

Remember, we provide you with space.   The more information you back up the more space you will require.   The more space you require the more you will pay www.backupearth.com.    Wth our maximum price being €1 per GB it will never cost you too much!

You can at any time, through the www.backupearth.com software, delete information you have backed up on our servers.   However, even after you have done this, the information is retained in the software's "Recycle Bin" for a further period of 10 days.   This is to ensure that if you delete something by mistake you can retrieve it.   Once you delete information your "used space" reflects the extra storage space now available to you even though the files are retained in the recycle bin.

If you decide to discontinue being a valued customer of www.backupearth.com we will give you 90 days access to our servers to retrieve your information.
You will not be able to backup information during this 90 day retrieval period.
Once this 90 day period has expired your information will not be accessible.   As you will then no longer be a customer of www.backupearth.com your stored information will be permanently removed from our servers.
Your information is still encrypted and secure during this 90 day period.

Information on the trial version servers gets deleted regularily to make room for new trial users.

Never back up anything important using our trial software.

I had to upgrade my PC and the BackUp Earth software now will not work, what do I do?

When you change anything on your PC, i.e. CPU, Motherboard etc., Backupearth software assumes that it has been stolen or placed on another PC. To protect you and your data BackupEarth software is designed to self-corrupt (write damaging code to both the database and the .exe file). Therefore, no-one can run or access your data.

You will need to apply for a new cert in this instance. Simply contact support via email, telephone support (where available) or your IT Dealer, and give the following information:

1: User ID (e.g. irl00001)
2: Full Company Address
3: Email Address
4: Phone Number
5: Quick brief of what happened i.e. Coffee spilt on laptop

NEVER give your password to anyone via email, including BackupEarth Support. BackupEarth will never ask you for personal/account information via email.

Once we have confirmed your identity, we will issue you with a new cert, simple click Digital Cert Options and then Click Update Cert when requested to do so by the BackupEarth / Dealer support.

I Want to Back Up My Entire Hard Drive but I Keep Getting Warnings, What Should I Do?

First of all you should never back up your entire hard drive unless it is in a Microsoft bkf file or in a Norton Ghost Image file.   It will never restore correctly.   Companies like Microsoft and Apple have placed special code in their software to stop people copying their operating systems and other software.

If you select YES on the BackUp Earth Warning screen, to backup your entire hard drive, your hard drive will be backed up.   But when you go to restore the drive Windows.OS X will request the original CDs and request you to contact Apple or Microsoft to reactivate your copy.

Any data on your hard drive such as documents, spreadsheets etc. will be restored but you may have to search for MyDocuments as Windows will usually pleace it somewhere else to force you to reactivate your copy.

Programs, although in 9 out of 10 cases they will be restored, will not necessarily work.   You will more than likely need to re-install the software from its original CD.

Along with all this it still may take you hours, or even days depending on your broadband speed, to re-install that amount of information.

The best thing to do is to back up your data documents, spreadsheets, emails, accounting package data, customer information etc.   Keep a copy of all software programs that you purchase so that you have them to hand should you need to re-install them.

You can restore any of your information 24/7 as long as you have a broadband connection.

You do not have to wait for us "to get back to you!".   You have complete control and discretion over activating and managing your restore.

The speed of your restore is only dependant on the speed of your broadband connection.
